Acadia National Park Lighthouse

Acadia is a beautiful park that takes up the majority of Mount Desert Island on Maines coast. For Part 2 of our New England road trip we spent several days at Acadia National Park in Maine. Located at the southwestern reach of Acadia National Park in Bass Harbor the light guards the southern entrance of Blue Hill Bay and warns against Bass Harbor Bar. The lighthouse is still in active use but tourists can walk up to the lighthouse and along a trail to stairs that head down to the rocky shoreline to get different views.

Acadia national park lighthouse. At the lighthouse you can picnic on the rocks and watch the boats and the surf and catch some spectacular sunsets here as well. The keepers house is currently being used for Coast Guard housing. Photographers jockey for spots.

Located in Acadia National Park Bass Harbor Lighthouse is situated on top of a rocky cliff on the southwestern area of Mt. As you arrive in the parking area you will note a walking path to the left. Lighthouses play an important role in understanding the nautical history of Mount Desert Island and the outlying islands along Maines coast.

Thanks to the waterways that are found near it this island is a bit. Mount Desert Island Bar Harbor and the Quiet Side of Acadia National Park. I wasnt able to get good views from the rocky shoreline this trip.
